A half marathon is 13.1 miles, and last time I checked, that’s an odd number. I have no issue signing up to race that distance.
But when my training schedule calls for 9, 11, 13, 17, 19 miles? I hate it. Multiples of five are fine. Even numbers are fine. It’s just one of my runner superstitions.
Although I don’t have many, I do have a few other superstitions (or maybe just odd habits) when it comes to training and racing.
I have to lay out all my gear, shoes, and nutrition before any long run. If I’m taking water bottles, I fill them up and put them in the fridge the night before, too.
If I’m racing, that bib sure as heck better be pinned to my shirt before I go to bed. No crooked bibs happening here, friends.
I stop at every single aid station on the course. Always. Since I dehydrate pretty easily, I stop just in case.
I also have certain favorites when it comes to my running gear — I won’t wear just anything when it comes to my long runs!
What about all of you? Any little quirks when it comes to your running?
