Running around in my skivvies on the Lakefront Path is not something I’d typically do. But when my friends at The Great Bowel Movement suggested joining the race to raise awareness, you know I couldn’t say no.
The Undie Dash is quite the race. There are costumes, crazy outfits, and oh yes — people running in their undies. I did bust out some Superman undies, but they were layered on top of my favorite Oiselle shorts. I had visions of myself with a wedgie on the Lakefront path — sounds like my nightmare!
The race itself was a total blast.
My outfit was a bit of a mismatched mess — my Crohn’s shirt, gray shorts with Superman undies on top, and my Team Challenge socks. At this race, something like that went totally unnoticed! It was a blast running down the path with friends and checking out all the wild and crazy outfits.
The weather was perfect and there was a cool breeze off the lake. It was such a fun night!
And of course, we had to take a photo with the best backdrop the evening had to offer.
Thanks to The Great Bowel Movement for putting together a fun night and helping to spread awareness about IBD! I think Alyssa spoke to pretty much every person out there — and we even wound up taking a photo for a fashion magazine. (Supermodels, we are not. It took him a long time to pose us!)
Done any silly races lately? What fun ways have you raised awareness?
