It’s 2013 and I am ready for a new year and a fresh start. Just like last year, I’ve got a snazzy little theme and some solid resolutions for the year. My resolutions don’t really fit the theme as well as they did last year, but whatever. I like them all anyway.
Reach a certain number in my savings account. I’m still adjusting financially to living on my own, and I want to get to my goal number in savings by the end of the year. This means less eating out and less buying presents for other people. (Seriously, I’ve been keeping track, and you wouldn’t believe how much I spend on my friends every month — and I’m not just talking birthdays and Christmas.) I’ve got a plan and I know I can do this in 2013. I’m actually really excited to see how financially savvy I can become this year.
Work out 4 – 5 days each week. I’m trying to make this a habit again. I don’t care if it’s running, a class at the gym, biking, swimming… just break a sweat for an hour four to five days every week. I love doing it and have just fallen out of the habit. It’s time to make it a habit again. I’m still working on my 2013 race schedule, but I hope that having race plans will help in this area, too.
Eat at home as often as humanly possible. Listen, I’m not saying I won’t grab dinner with friends from time to time, but the amount that I’ve been dining out is completely ridiculous. It’s expensive, and I don’t make the healthiest choices when I dine out. Enough is enough. This will help me save money, too! (And heck, I can invite friends over to eat at my place!)
Keep up the good habits I started in 2012. Last year, I became more organized and learned to manage my time better. I started reading and sleeping more. I don’t want these things to fall by the wayside as I take on some new goals.
That’s it. Easy peasy, nothing crazy. I like to keep it simple and manageable by choosing the things that are most important to me. Bring it on, 2013! I’m ready!
