Last night, my credit card got a workout as I rounded out the rest of my 2012 race calendar. It’s shaping up quite nicely, if I do say so myself. After this past weekend’s mostly-successful 10k, I decided I have it in me to PR in some smaller distances.

In October, I chose a 5k in Boston with my childhood BFF, who I am quite certain can kick my booty for 3.1 miles.

Maybe we should wear friendship bracelets for the race, too.

Then, in November, I plan to get revenge on the 10k with Chicago’s Perfect 10.

Yes, after my half marathon this month, I am sticking to little races for a while. Races that make me get out and run, and push my limits, rather than endure for miles and miles. I think I might even learn to race. To leave it all out there on the course and have absolutely nothing left. I can’t wait.

You might also notice the Chicago Marathon is missing from my race schedule.

Around the time that I had some long absences from writing here, I also had some long absences from marathon training. There has been a lot going on in my personal life — which I may or may not end up talking about — and I just didn’t have the time. Or maybe I didn’t make it. Either way, rather than go into the marathon unprepared, I’m going to have fun kicking butt at some smaller races this fall.

What is on your race list this fall?
