I’m no stranger to getting a little messy in the name of fun.

Proof that fun can be messy. With my cousin Kurt at Muddy Buddy in 2010. And yes, I did the whole dang race in a DRESS.

So when the Pretty Muddy folks contacted me about their new race, they had me at hello. Pretty Muddy is a new race series — a 5k obstacle mud run or walk for women only. (Sorry, Kurt.) And it’s coming to the Chicago area this September! They were kind enough to give me an entry to participate, so I’ll be there getting messy, and I want you to join me!

I get pretty dressed up on weekends. See how fancy I am? This shirt is awesome and you should have one too. Good thing you can win one!

One lucky reader will win an entry to the Pretty Muddy in Orland Park this September 15, and an awesome technical shrit, too! To enter, comment below. Tell me something happy. Tell me your favorite kind of races. Tell me why you want to get messy. Tell me anything at all and you’ll be entered to win! Just make sure you tell me by Monday, August 20 at 9:00 am CST, because that’s when this contest closes. (Yes, you have a whole week to enter.)

Not feeling lucky or just want to make sure you secure your spot? I still have fantastic news! If you register using this link (or click Pretty Muddy above), $5 of your registration will get donated to my CCFA fundraising. You can also get $10 off your registration by using the code ForwardisapaceDisc!

When you register, feel free to join our Forward is a Pace team. I hope to see lots of your there.

Ready. Set. Comment. Who wants to get Pretty Muddy with me?!

Something happy… I just started thinking of running as something that I “GET” to do, not “HAVE” to do! Pretty exciting moment when I realized that : )

I like short races, and would love to try doing on involving a messy obstacle course! I may need a buddy though, because I don’t have many runner friends!

    Something happy…

I used running as a means to lose weight and couldn’t even run around the block without feeling like I was going to die. When I started in 2007, I was 252 lbs. Today, I am around 130 and can run around my block many times over. I’m still not particularly fast, but that was never my goal. Just finishing something as short as a 5k is a huge accomplishment for me! Basically, I lost almost 100% of my current person and would be giddy like a school girl if I won and I’d probably pee myself with glee when I finished! :)

“if I won” = won the registration, not won the race ;)
