I simply can’t believe it snuck up on me like that. This Sunday marks 19 weeks until the Chicago Marathon. My trusty Hal Higdon training plans are 18 weeks long. That means that Chicago Marathon training officially begins for this girl on Sunday, June 3. This weekend.
No, I haven’t been a running fool lately. I’ve been running here and there, but my beloved Brooks have been sitting in the closet more than I care to admit. Yes, I’ve missed a lot of races that I started 2012 with the hopes of doing. My buddy Hal says that I should be running about 20 – 25 miles a week to have a solid base for marathon training.
But you know what? I became a runner in 2007 and prepared for my very first marathon in three months from pretty much 0. I’m healthier than I have been in a long time. I miss running. I am ready and excited to have long runs take over my summer Saturdays.
Here’s hoping this is the year of the sub-6 marathon. (For you speedy folks, I mean sub-6 hours, not sub-6 minute miles.)
