Once or twice a day, I sit down at my computer and write.  Sometimes it’s a story.  Sometimes I talk about my day, tell you about ulcerative colitis, or discuss a recent race.  I’m sure at times it seems random to you when you can login and read about everything from my favorite running hairstyles to mismatched workout clothes; my habit of singing in the car to my favorite pizza joint; goals big and small and my autoimmune disease, ulcerative colitis.

Seems like it’s all over the place, right?  I assure you it is not.

I can't promise that I'm never all over the place. But this blog is not.

This morning, Tina at Faith Fitness Fun shared her blog mission statement.  She challenged her readers to write their own, and who am I to say no to that?  So here’s mine.

Forward is a Pace Mission Statement

Forward is a Pace is a blog dedicated to the passions and pursuits of a 20-something woman living with ulcerative colitis.  (That’s me!)

I strive to raise awareness about ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease by:

  • Speaking openly about my symptoms, difficulties, and treatments
  • Honestly sharing my struggles and successes
  • Giving one picture of everyday life with a chronic illness
I contribute to the running and fitness community by sharing what works for me in my training for running and triathlon.

I aim to meet my 30 before 30 goals and share stories along the way, perhaps inspiring others to do the same.

Above all, I am open, honest, and true to myself.  I hope that people who know me in real life and read my blog find it to be an accurate reflection of who I am.

Always classy, that's me.

What about you?  Do you blog?  Does your blog have a mission, or do you just write what you feel like writing?

  1. Awww… love this! I’m not sure what the definite mission of my blog is. It started as something completely different and has slowly evolved from one thing to another. But in the end, I really just want to amuse others and make light of life’s random events. Nothing makes me smile more than a comment from someone saying I made them laugh. :)

Thanks, Amy! I never really articulated my blog mission until today. I always knew it in the back of my mind, but it was kind of nice to get it down on paper. :) Mine started as something really different, too, and of course, blogs are always evolving as the author does!

  2. [...]  I blog because it makes me oh-so-happy. I love the connections I’ve made with other people and the opportunity to share my life with ulcerative colitis. You can read my mission here. [...]
